Course Description:
The Service Course is a 3-month virtual program designed to onboard service technicians - with 38 hours of instruction spread across 24 classes - allowing technicians to complete training without leaving the clinic. Classes are held twice a week and cover three key areas: linac components, linac safety, and linac troubleshooting and maintenance.
The course is taught using Simac, the Linac simulator, and the Linax platform, which technicians can access for a full year. Still covering both Varian and Elekta machines - our focus is on understanding linac components, how they work together, and applying that knowledge to troubleshooting and repairs, rather than teaching specific machine procedures. Students also receive expert feedback and guidance from a seasoned service technician throughout the course
The course gets technicians ready to begin servicing independently and prepared for vendor training.
Payment plans are available, and we run courses three times a year—in Winter, Spring, and Fall.
Clement Arsenault - Dr George L Dumont Hospital
Access to training on linear accelerators has been very difficult in the last couple of years.
Furthermore, we do not have the resources
to set up an in-house training program.
Linax provided a thorough and complete introduction to the operations of medical linear
accelerators. This is great for new staff.
Kirby Farris - Service New Brunswick
We want our service technicians to have
hands-on training, but that's not readily
available. We had a void to fill in our development process, and this course was a perfect fit.
Gavin Cranmer-Sargison - Saskatchewan Cancer Agency
The SIMAC software and related product offerings were a great resource for us. Our electronics technicians used the simulation software during the linac related training and found it very helpful. It all fits together nicely - Hats off to the Linax team
